CANON CITY DAILY RECORD | BY BRIAN PORTER
City Councilman Fred Toney advised Monday, “We need to listen to our citizens,” after residents rebelled for the past two weeks against the implementation of paid parking in Cañon City.
A petition against the initiative has raised nearly 1,300 signatures since June 1, but additionally, hundreds of residents sounded off online, via email, and in person with City Councilmen. There was a paid, full-page ad in the Daily Record, and all 14 speakers at City Council and even people at local businesses were in unison. They didn’t want paid parking in Cañon City.
Ultimately, the City Council listened.
